Zoos with Giraffe in Belgium 2026

Wildlife Park Beekse Bergen

Hulshout, Belgium 4.5 (33.482)

1 of 16 zoos in Belgium have Giraffe

At Safaripark Beekse Bergen—one of about sixteen Belgian zoos with giraffes—guests can encounter the rare Nubian giraffe up close.

Celebrating New Births

Safaripark Beekse Bergen marked a milestone in May 2026 with the birth of two Nubian giraffes: a male calf born on May 10 and a female on May 12. These arrivals highlighted the park's vital role in supporting this endangered subspecies, which is seldom seen in most Belgian zoos. The May births followed an earlier baby boom in January 2026, when four Nubian giraffes—males Bata and Kito, and females Milele and Iggy—were born at the park. These additions not only delighted visitors but also made a meaningful contribution to the European reserve population of Nubian giraffes.

Meet the Family

The giraffe herd at Beekse Bergen has experienced both joy and loss in recent years. In September 2025, the park mourned the passing of Kito, an eight-month-old giraffe, due to a lung infection. Despite this setback, the group continues to thrive, with several calves born since then, each representing hope for the future of the species.

Where to See Them

Visitors can observe Nubian giraffes throughout Beekse Bergen. The animals roam in spacious areas visible along the walking safari, bus safari, and car safari routes. Guests staying at the Safari Resort also enjoy privileged views of the giraffes from their accommodations, making encounters possible at every turn.

A Commitment to Conservation

Safaripark Beekse Bergen is deeply involved in protecting the Nubian giraffe, both onsite and in the wild. The park participates in the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP), working with other zoos to maintain a healthy reserve population. Through Stichting Wildlife, Beekse Bergen also supports the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF), an organization dedicated to the protection and management of giraffes in their native habitats. These efforts ensure that the park's giraffe births contribute to a larger mission: the survival of the species worldwide.

With its successful breeding program and visible conservation work, Safaripark Beekse Bergen offers a rare and meaningful opportunity to see and support Nubian giraffes in Belgium.
