The Area faunistica of the Stelvio National Park sits at Localita Runcal, on the road between Peio Fonti and Peio Paese in the Trentino sector of the park. It is a small educational enclosure built so visitors can watch red deer and roe deer at close range and see how the herd behaves, rather than a zoo in the usual sense. Its centrepiece is the Casa dei Cervi, a restored building that now houses a teaching room and a themed exhibition.
Visitors can park in designated areas near the park entrance. Parking is generally free, but it's advisable to arrive early during peak seasons to secure a spot. Be sure to follow any posted signs regarding parking regulations to avoid fines.
- Open only in the summer season, 8 June to 20 September, and closed over the middle of the day between 13:00 and 15:00. Admission is 2 EUR for adults and 1 EUR for children aged 6 to 11 and visitors over 70. Every Monday from 8 June to 31 August the park runs a free hour-long guided visit included in that price, leaving at 10:00, 11:00, 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00 from the enclosure at Localita Runcal. The site is on the road from Peio Fonti up to Peio Paese.
