Heads of Ayr Farm Park sits on the Dunure Road at Alloway near Ayr and has been open for over thirty years, holding a zoo licence and stating more than 80 species. It splits its collection three ways: a farmyard section with Highland cattle, miniature donkeys, alpacas and llamas that visitors can feed; an exotic section with zebras, squirrel monkeys, two lemur species, wallabies, camels, raccoons, skunks, Asian short-clawed otters, meerkats and prairie dogs; and an indoor Little Critters barn containing the Aztec Reptile Zone, with iguanas, tortoises, a dwarf caiman and invertebrates. Keeper talks run daily and there is indoor and outdoor play alongside the animals.
