Birgits Tiergarten is a privately run animal park at Suedlohn in Muensterland, laid out over 28,000 square metres with about fifty enclosures and more than 400 animals - donkeys, llamas, kangaroos, guinea pigs and a range of birds, some of which roam the grounds freely. The park is built as a garden with a petting meadow, a playground and a terrace cafe, and dogs on a lead are welcome.
It opens for the season from 1 March to 31 October and closes from November to February, when the staff maintain the grounds and enclosures for the following year.
There is a paid parking lot located directly in front of the zoo. This parking is not operated by the zoo, so be prepared to pay for your spot. It's advisable to arrive early during peak times to secure a parking space.
