About Butterfly Park
Butterfly Park at Empuriabrava on the Costa Brava is a 2,000 m2 greenhouse laid out as a tropical rainforest, close to the Aiguamolls de l'Emporda nature park. Butterflies are the main attraction - including the Atlas moth, the largest in the world - alongside toucans, the Victoria crowned pigeon, scarlet ibis, green iguanas, Seba's short-tailed bats, red-necked wallabies and Asian muntjac deer.
A visit takes about an hour and a half. The park doubles as a rehoming centre: its birds come from captive breeding or from private owners who could no longer care for them, and it campaigns to make families think twice before keeping an exotic bird at home.
Visitors can park in designated areas near the Butterfly Park. Parking is typically paid, so be sure to have some cash or a credit card ready. It's advisable to arrive early to secure a good parking spot, especially on weekends and holidays.
