About Serpentarium Calden
The Serpentarium Calden at Meimbressen in north Hesse is a small private reptile zoo. It admits visitors only on a guided tour of about an hour to an hour and a half, in groups of no more than five, with no free roaming, so that the animals are left undisturbed. It opens from 1 May to 30 September only - most of its animals spend the rest of the year in winter rest.
The keeper also breeds reptiles for sale and runs the VDA-DGHT competence certificate under paragraph 2 of the German Animal Welfare Act on site.
