About Calderglen Zoo
Calderglen Zoo opened in 1982 inside Calderglen Country Park at East Kilbride and is home to more than fifty species on about an acre, several of them critically endangered. Visitors see meerkats, wallabies, coatis and otters alongside a tropical conservatory, and the zoo is a BIAZA member doing conservation work on restoring native harvest mouse populations across the UK.
It runs two booked group sessions - an Animal Encounter, where a keeper brings out snakes and lizards, and a Feeding Tour round the outdoor enclosures. The wider country park adds ornamental gardens, nature trails along the Rotten Calder glen with its waterfalls, play areas, a cafe and a golf course.
