About Orientarium ZOO Lodz
Lodz municipal zoo, trading as Orientarium ZOO Lodz, was founded in 1938 on the last fragment of the old Lodz forest and rebuilt completely in 2022 around the Orientarium - the most modern South-East Asia complex in Europe, where visitors walk through a tunnel under the elephants' pool. The rebuild took the collection to around 3350 animals of 554 species, and it is the only zoo in Poland showing giant otters, Sumatran orangutans, false gharials and bush dogs.
Its published species pages run to nearly two hundred and cover a large aquarium and reptile section alongside the Asian mammals and a broad bird collection.
