About Le Domaine de la Ganne
The Domaine de la Ganne is a teaching farm and animal park at Premilhat near Montlucon in the Allier, set in a traditional Bourbonnais farmstead around a nineteenth-century house. It works 100 hectares of organic pasture certified by Ecocert, with streams, hedgerows, ponds and woodland, and visitors follow a 2.2 km trail among the animals, feeding them as part of the entry price.
Its herd is Highland cattle, grass and hay fed with no cereals, concentrates, routine antibiotics or vaccines, and the farm sells the beef and preserves direct. There is an 80 square metre heated teaching room, dry toilets in a straw-bale house, and parking for cars, campervans and coaches. It also travels to village fetes and Christmas markets with the animals.
Open 4 April to 1 November; outside visits are unbooked, with the ticket office 14:00-18:00 and the park 14:00-19:00, every day in the school holidays and Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday outside them. Dogs are not admitted on the trail.
Parking is available on-site for visitors. It is free of charge, making it convenient for families and groups. Arriving early is recommended to secure a good parking spot, especially during busy weekends.
