Parque Ecológico Zacango was established by a decree from the State Executive on August 5, 1981. It is located on the grounds of the former Hacienda de Zacango in Calimaya, a site rich in history dating back to the 16th century. The park is situated at the foot of the Nevado de Toluca volcano, at an average altitude of 2,910 meters above sea level, featuring a semi-cold and humid climate.
The park is home to a diverse range of animal species, including zebras, buffalo, and various antelope species. Visitors can also admire the historical architecture of the former hacienda, which has been adapted for educational and gallery purposes.
Visitors can park in designated areas near the entrance of the zoo. Parking is free, but it can fill up quickly on weekends, so arriving early is recommended.
