Erve Vechtdal near Ommen runs the Koe Safari, a guided ride in a 1956 Hanomag tractor and covered wagon out through a Staatsbosbeheer nature reserve to the farm's own herd of Brandrode cattle, an old Dutch breed that lives outdoors along the river year-round. The tour lasts about an hour and a half and the farmer introduces the herd by name. There is also a farm cafe, a roundhouse and packages combining the safari with canoeing or a sloop trip. ANWB members voted it the most innovative day out in the Netherlands.
