About Rioja Natura
Rioja Natura is an environmental education centre and small zoological park at the gates of the Sierra de la Demanda in La Rioja, built around teaching rather than display. It combines a nature classroom with a flora and fauna park, and visits are guided, with an instructor explaining how each species lives. The centre also works with Controlavifauna on bird management projects - storks, starlings and pigeons at airports and in urban and wild settings - and its stated purpose is protection, education and the sustainable development of environmental tourism in an ecologically valuable setting.
