Opel-Zoo

The Opel-Zoo at Kronberg im Taunus, run by the von Opel Hessische Zoostiftung, keeps around 109 species on open hillside enclosures north-west of Frankfurt. It is best known for the only elephants in Hesse and for its giraffes, and it holds antelope, zebra, rhino, cheetah, monkeys and a large native-species and farm section alongside them. The zoo is open every day of the year - the tills run 09:00 to 19:00 and visitors may stay until dusk, leaving through turnstiles. It funds an endowed professorship and runs a zoo school, guided tours, rallies and a research library.
