About Serengeti Park
The Serengeti-Park at Hodenhagen in Lower Saxony is one of the largest safari parks in Europe. Its 120-hectare Serengeti-Safari holds around 1,500 free-ranging animals across 16 areas laid out by region - East and West Africa, Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia - and is driven through in your own car or on a guided bus tour where animals are drawn close by feeding.
The Dschungel-Safari holds more than 200 monkeys, several of the enclosures walk-through with no barrier between visitor and animal, and the Abenteuer-Safari adds rides, a big wheel and a water area. The park has held an open-ended licence as a zoological garden under EU directive 99/22/EC since 2004, is an EAZA member taking part in European breeding programmes, and in 1996 achieved the first release into the wild of a European-bred white rhinoceros, the bull Kai, into Etosha in Namibia.
