Copenhagen Zoo, established in 1859, has a long history of housing various animals, including chickens. At its opening, the zoo showcased a range of animals such as eagles, chickens, ducks, owls, rabbits, a fox, a seal, and a turtle.

Today, visitors can interact with chickens in the Children's Zoo, where young guests have the opportunity to engage with various farm animals. This area allows children to play with animals and even ride ponies, providing an educational and hands-on experience.

Additionally, the zoo employs chickens as part of its enrichment programs for carnivorous species. For instance, caracals, known for their bird-hunting skills, are provided with deceased chickens suspended on elastic bands. This practice encourages natural hunting behaviors and physical activity, contributing to the animals' overall well-being.
