Copenhagen Zoo houses over 4,000 animals representing more than 250 species. Among its rare inhabitants are Tasmanian devils, which bred successfully for the first time in 2013, resulting in seven joeys. The zoo also maintains and promotes several European breeding programmes to ensure healthy animal populations.
In April 2019, Copenhagen Zoo received two giant pandas on loan from China, adding to its collection of rare species. The zoo's commitment to conservation is evident through its participation in various breeding collaborations and its efforts to protect endangered animals worldwide.
