In 2015, a man entered the polar bear enclosure, prompting zookeepers to use rubber bullets to protect him; he sustained only superficial injuries. In 2023, a young polar bear died after biting through an electrical cable, leading the zoo to review safety measures.

The zoo's polar bear population has included individuals like Lynn, a female who arrived from Vienna Zoo in 2013 to join existing bears Nord and Noel. Copenhagen Zoo actively participates in conservation efforts, contributing to the protection of endangered species through breeding programs, research, and global partnerships.
